Mr. BOUCHER
My Philosophy
I personally don’t like the title “Technology in the Classroom”. A student who never sees the practical use of technology outside of the classroom is the same as a student who never sees the practical application of science outside of the classroom. As teachers, we have the responsibility of showing students that technology, like all other content subjects, is not limited to the classroom and that it has practical use outside of the four walls of the school. With the growing place of technology in our daily lives, we must learn to adapt and use these tools for the advancement of our students, our communities and ourselves. The challenge, then, is showing students how to use word documents, YoutTube videos, website creators, and even games in a practical way that will enhance their learning, both while in school and throughout their life. Going back to the title, maybe it is not that I don’t like it as much as I think it is incomplete. Technology definitely does have a place and a purpose in the classroom, but that purpose is to reach BEYOND the classroom.
